On September 19th,1969, he married Rosie Lee Boyd Harris. She was the mother of five daughters.
He was employed for W&D as a truck driver after his return to civilian life. He retired from L.S. Ayres (they brought out W&D).
Left to cherish his memory are six daughters, Valerie Hicks of Birmingham,AL, Margaret, Leona Smith, Anita and Evelyn (Ted) Whitfield and Janeatra all of Fort Wayne; two sons, Kenneth Belcher of Fort Wayne and Michael (Dee) Belcher of Powder Springs, GA; one brother, Amos Sr of Calera, AL; and two sisters, Alberta (James) Hall of Shelby, AL and Gladys Steen of Clanton, AL; 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; five step-daughters; Christeen (Kenny) Hill, Jim Ella (Walter) Martin, and Rosa Ann Harris all of Fort Wayne; Lorraine Bass of Sacramento, CA and Sandra Harris of Pensacola, Florida and many relatives. Also Sabrina, whom he married and her son DeShawn.
