July 29th, 1901
George Schaffner, the constable, residing at 1415 Spring street, yesterday celebrated the 29th anniversary of his birth, and in the evening was surprised by a company of friends who called to extend congratulations and spend the evening. George proved an agreeable host, and his good wife did the honors of the evening graciously. There were good things to eat and to drink, and the evening was spent in informal sociability. It was a most pleasant occasion.

Great Grandpa George passed away from Bright's Disease at the state hospital in Illinois. He was being cared for in the hospital for three months before he passed away.
