Early Life: Richard and his twin, William G. "Bill", were born April 3, 1929, in Provo, Utah, to Andrew Marinus and Florence Naillon Christensen. They were the youngest of eight children and grew up in Provo, attending and graduating from Provo High School.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: He married Betty Jo Mitchell in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They settled in Provo and had seven children, six boys and one girl: Russell Andrew, Mark Alan, Ron K., Charles Brent, Richard Craig, Bradley Kent and Susan Joy. Richard worked most of his life for Mountain Fuel Supply/Questar where he was a serviceman and later retired. He served in the National Guard for three years. He loved and appreciated the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. He was an expert fisherman and spent many hours fishing on the Provo River, Strawberry Reservoir, Schofield Reservoir, and later in his life, Island Park. He loved hunting duck, pheasant, deer and elk. He also enjoyed playing golf at Hobble Creek Golf Course. He was a handy man. He loved to fix things and spent many hours throughout his life helping his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time woodworking in his shop. Later in his life, he spent many hours building birdhouses for family and friends. He loved to talk to people, tell stories, and he made friends wherever he lived. Later in his life, he served in his high priests quorum and developed many good friends and neighbors. Richard Byron Christensen passed from this life December 16, 2012. He was 83.
Survived By: Five sons: Russell (Marilyn) Christensen, of Provo; Ron (Debbie) Christensen, of Springville; Charlie (Kim) Christensen, of Elk Ridge; Richard Craig (Kim), of Mapleton; and Brad (Evelyn) Christensen, of Sugar City, Idaho; 23 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: His wife, Betty Jo; daughter, Susan Joy Christensen Sayer (Kelly); son, Mark Alan Christensen; his parents; his brothers: Andrew Max Christensen, Jack Christensen and William Christensen; and sisters: Fawn Ferguson, Mary Anhder and Norda Simkins.
