Leon Ole Hanson was born the year after his family moved to Spooner (East Baudette), in what is now Lake of the Woods County, MN. He grew up and attended school in that community. About 1940 he married Florence Alice Murray. They had three sons: Jeffery, Gerald, and Douglas. Leon died November 2, 2003 at Baudette and is buried in the Elm Park Cemetery there.
