HOWARD T. AMEY, 75, died at 3:13 p.m. April 8, 2002, at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus.

He was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Tunkhannock, Pa., to Arthur L. and Alwildah Travis Amey. He married Genevieve Merritt Ream, who preceded him in death. On April 20, 1973, he married Colleen Gwen Vance, who survives.

Mr. Amey was a carpenter out of Local 372, Lima, and Local 1393, Toledo. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 471, Delphos, AMVETS Post 39, Lakeview, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8832, Roundhead, American Legion Post 173, Bellefontaine, and the Logan County Fish and Game. He has served as a councilman of the village of Lakeview for several years. He was an active member of several bowling teams. He was a 1944 graduate of Ada High School. He was a Navy veteran, serving on the USS Wadleigh. He was a loving husband and beloved father. He shared with his family the love of camping, fishing, hunting and playing euchre. He was fun-loving and witty and will be missed by many.

Survivors also include two sons, Steven Amey of Galt, Calif., and Kent (Debbie) Amey of Bellefontaine; three daughters, Pam (Frank) Grubb of Romeo, Mich., Kyle Hall of Sacramento, Calif., and Katrina (Brian) Pierce of Browns Valley, Calif.; three brothers, Nile (Betty) Amey of Defiance, Art (Gloria) Amey of San Marcos, Texas, and Richard (Linda) Amey of Tavares, Fla.; a sister, Judy Mason of West Newton; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Hall.

Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday at Van Horn Funeral Home, Lakeview. The Rev. Jeffrey Bartlett will officiate. The body has been cremated.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
