Colleen Gwen Amey, 84, of Lakeview, Ohio, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 13, 1933 in Vaughnsville, Ohio to Virgil and Helen Bragg Vance, who preceded her in death. On April 20, 1973, she married Howard Travis Amey who died April 8, 2002.

Colleen grew up on a farm during the depression where she learned to be frugal, work hard, persevere, and encourage others to do the same. She graduated from Vaughnsville High School in 1951. One of her proudest accomplishments was her 26 years of perfect attendance at Superior Metal Products in Wapakoneta, Ohio. She loved roller skating, bowling and was a passionate euchre player. In her free time, she enjoyed fishing and camping trips with her husband. Her mechanical mind and strength kept her woodworking and mowing lawns well into her 80's. She enjoyed regularly attending St. Marys of the Woods in Russells Point, Ohio, being involved in several service organizations including Doyle R. Miller Amvets Post #39 Auxiliary in Lakeview, FOE Aeries #471 in Delphos and volunteering at Mary Rutan Hospital.

Colleen was a strong Christian, a no-nonsense "pick yourself up by your bootstraps" kind of gal and we will miss her greatly. She always said: "When it's your time to go…it's your time to go!"

Survivors include daughters Pamela (Frank) Grubb of Washington, MI, Kyle Hall of Camptonville, CA, and Katrina (Brian) Pierce of Carmichael, CA; son, Kent (Deb) Amey of Dublin, OH; sister Patty Couts of Fort Wayne, IN; brother Edgar (Norma) Vance of Vaughnsville, OH; 12 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Dolores Hoffman, son Steven Amey, and three grandchildren.

Private graveside services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to Columbus Humane 3015 Scioto Darby Executive Ct. Hilliard, OH 43026

Arrangements are in the care of Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Condolences may be expressed at shoffstallfuneralhome.com.
