Anna was born to Christian Thorson and Mari Oldsdtr and emigrated to the US from Norway in 1865.

She was married , first, to Christian Olaus (Nils) Olson in 1865. She was widowed in 1874, when he died at sea, on Lake Michegan . They had been living in Chicago at the time, and after his death, she traveled to Wisconsin to be near her sister. She was pregnant and gave birth to her daughter in Racine Wisconsin, during her travel.
They had three sons: Carl Olaves Olson , Carl"Charles" Olaves Olson, David Martinius Olson and daughter Clara Annette Olson.
The first Carl died as a baby of less than a year old and Clara Annette died as a toddler. The story told to family members was that she was struck by lightening.

She married second Nels (Nils) Hanson May 18, 1875 who was living in Clifton Wisconson. He was from Norway originally also.
They had four sons: Hans Klarinius "Clarence" Hanson, Christian (Christ) Emanuel Hanson, Oliver Andreas Hanson and Soren (Sam) Johan (John) Hanson. (Christian has also been called Kristian Ingemund and Oliver's middle name as Anderson on various census sheets of the family).

Nels and Anna also raised a "cousin" of Nels - Gunhilda Marie Hanson who made the journey to America from Norway in the company of the young woman who would become Charles Olson's bride , Tilda Sorenson. Gunda, or Hilda , as she was to be called as an adult, married Gust Krohmer . Hilda told her family in later life that she thought of Charles and the Hanson boys as her brothers.
