Arrival of Relative From Iowa Awaited.

Awaiting the arrival of relatives from Iowa, funeral services for Dirk Albers, 86, who died in a Houston hospital at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran church.

Preceding the services at the church, brief rites will be held at the family home, 1326 Houston avenue. Rev. George W. Schardl, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church, will officiate, and burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.

Mr. Albers was born in Oldendorf, Ostfriesland, Germany. He came to America in 1886, and, after a years spent in Illinois, Iowa and Oklahoma, came to Jefferson county in 1908. For seven years he was a rice farmer in this vicinity, but in 1916 he entered the contracting business, retiring in 1926. He developed double pneumonia on Feb. 4 which resulted in his death five days later.

Additional survivors, other than those already named, are a son, Pete Albers, of Port Arthur and two step-daughters, Mrs. John Johnson, of Port Arthur and Mrs. John Burkema of Jewell, Iowa.

Pallbearers will be Matt Jurischk, Pet Hos, Albert Fischer, Fred Drunagel, Paul Jetzold, N. B. Hampton, C. D. Dorntos, and E.A. Kubitz. All friends of the family will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of Hampton's.

Surviving are the widow; three daughters, Mrs. J. J. Ryder of St. Paul, Minn., Mrs. Hans Burkema of Jewell, Iowa and Mrs. W. L. Beaumont of the Groves, six sons, Jake Albers of Skellytown, Henry, Carl, Ted and R. T. Albers; 33 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Dirk Albers was the son of Jacob Albers and Else Kruse. He emigrated to America on the ship Weser which arrived at the Port of Baltimore 14 September 1881. He was 31 years of age.
