Nederland--Richard Dick "Pete" Albers, 84, of 928 Mimosa Drive, died at 8:40 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was a native of Pocahontas County, Iowa, and a Port Arthur resident since 1909. He retired from Texaco in 1962 where he worked as a refrigeration engineer in the coal treating plant with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.
Services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul Bohot officiating. Burial intombment will follow in Greenlawn Mausoleum under the direction of the Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Sophia Albers of Nederland; one daughter, Gloria A.. Albers Simpson of Nederland; two sisters, Emma Ryder of St. Paul, Minn., and Minnie Beaumont of Groves; and two grandsons.
