Lawrence Oftedahl, age 95, of Cottage Grove, WI, formerly of Rice Lake, WI, died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Kindred Hearts in Cottage Grove.

He was born on December 13, 1914 in Dawson, MN to Ommund and Christine (Mortenson) Oftedahl. He entered the United States Army Air Corp and served during World War II. On April 21, 1951 he was married to Vernice Sundsmo in Madison, WI. Lawrence was a welder for Dairy Equipment Company for over 25 years and retired in 1979. Lawrence and Vernice owned & operated their own upholstery business for 10 years. Lawrence loved to read and watch western movies; he enjoyed traveling and attended Maranatha Evangelical Free Church in Rice Lake, WI.

Lawrence is survived by 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce & Elizabeth Oftedahl of Cross Plains, WI, Edwin & Diane Oftedahl of Brooklyn, WI, Paul & Susan Oftedahl of Cottage Grove, WI and Steven & Beryl Oftedahl of Evansville, WI; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson; a brother, Kenneth Oftedahl of Rice Lake, WI and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernice Oftedahl on October 20, 1997; a son, James Oftedahl; parents, Ommund and Christine Oftedahl; 7 brothers, Ernest, Albin, Oscar, Melford, Russell, Lloyd and Stanley and 4 sisters, Mabel, Ida, Myrtle and Doris.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the Assembly of God Church in Rice Lake, WI, Rev. Dan Reid officiating, with interment in the Maple Grove Cemetery in the Township of Maple Grove, WI where Military Rites will be accorded by the Rice Lake Veterans Center Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 PM Tuesday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and 1 hour prior to the funeral at the Church.
