Stanford Ford Hamby, 47, Dies at Hospital

Funeral services for Stanford Ford Hamby, 47, who died after a few hours' illness in the Houston Hospital, Thursday morning, April 22, were held from Springhill Baptist Church at 10 o'clock Friday morning.

The Rev. Flenoy Clark and the Rev. Mr. Helms of Slate Springs, officiated at the services.

Interment was in Springhill Cemetery, with Houston Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Hamby was born in Calhoun County, son of Archie and Dora Lee Baker Hamby, July 13, 1906. He had made his home near Houston, on Star Route, for the past ten years.

He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Jeanette Hamby; three daughters, Mrs. C W Lawrence of Glenview, Maryland; Mrs. Dorothy Hill of Houston and Mrs. Robert Lucy, of Memphis, Tenn. He leaves five sons, James Ray Hamby, with the U S Army; David Wayne Hamby, Jerry Mack Hamby, Bobby Franklin Hamby, and Stanley O'Dell Hamby, all of Houston, two brothers and six sisters.

Pallbearers were Ethan Marshall, B A Masser, Bill Shirrill, John Higginbotham, Bill Higginbotham, and Malcolm Walters.
