JACKSON COUNTY CLIPPER - SEPTEMBER 19, 1966

Grace (Thompson) Anderson, second youngest in the eight children of the Pioneer family of Jane and Daniel Thompson was born April 6, 1881 at Soldier, Kansas and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Galen Ewing in Great Bend, Kansas, September 19, 1966, at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 13 days.

She received her education in Soldier schools. All of her life was spent in Soldier. She was a member of the Soldier Christian Church.

On June 14, 1909 she was united in marriage to Bert Anderson. To this union five children were born, one of which died in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death on June 25, 1944.

Survivors include two daughters; Mrs. June Reed, Soldier, Kansas, and Mrs. Ula Ewing, Great Bend, Kansas and two sons; Glenn and Paul Anderson both of Holton. Nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the Mercer Funeral Home on September 21, 1966 at 2 p.m. Rev., Clarence Tucker officiated. Organ music was furnished by Mrs. Larry Zwonitzer, Pallbearers were Gary Anderson, Ronald Anderson, Greg Anderson, Dale Reed, Jerry Reed, and Terry Ewing. Interment was in the Soldier Cemetery.

GREAT BEND-Mrs. Grace Alice Anderson, 85, died early Monday morning at the home of her daughter here, after a long illness. Born April 6, 1881, at Soldier, she lived there her entire life until coming to Great Bend to live with her daughter three weeks ago.

Survivors: Sons, Glenn and Paul, both of Holton; daughters, Mrs. June Reed, Soldier, and Mrs. Galen Ewing, Great Bend; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren.

Funeral will be held at the Mercer Funeral Home, Holton, with burial at Soldier.
