Soldier Clipper, August 24, 1930; Mr & Mrs John Fisher enjoyed having all of their children and grandchildren with them on Sunday. Those present were, Florence and Glenn, at home; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Rudy and children, of Scott City, Kansas; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Shelby and children, of Holton, Kansas; Mr. & Mrs. Fred Fisher and daughter, and Grandma [Jane Dove] Thompson.

Topeka Daily Capital September 20, 1962, Holton; A lifetime Jackson County resident Mrs. Hulda Fisher, 84, died Tuesday in her home here. Born November 27, 1877 in Soldier, she lived most of her life in Soldier or Holton. Mrs. Fisher was a member of the Holton MethodistChurch. Survivors, include three daughters, Mrs. Chelcia Shelby, Torrance, California, Mrs. Elfa Rudy, Holton, Kansas, and Mrs. Florence Jackson, Borger, Texas; Two sons, Fred Fisher, Soldier, Kansas, and Glenn Fisher,Wichita, Kansas; Fifteen grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Johnson, Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Grace Anderson, Soldier, Kansas. Mercer Funeral Home, Holton, Kansas, Will announce arrangements.

Soldier Clipper, Obituary, "MRS. HULDA FISHER" Hulda Ann Thompson, daughter of Jane and Daniel M. Thompson, was born at Soldier, Kansas, November 27, 1877 and passed to her eternal home September 18, 1962 at the age of 84 years 9 months and 22 days. Early in life she united with the Soldier Methodist Church which her parents had helped establish.

Upon moving to Holton in 1935, she transferred her membership to the Methodist Church of Holton where she reunited in Faithful attendance until ill health prevented. On October 2, 1895, she was united in marriage to John Henry Fisher. The home was established on a farm 5 miles southeast of Soldier. Almost her entire life has been lived in Jackson County.

To this union were born seven children. Two sons, Frances Conrad and Harold William died in infancy. She was also preceded in death by her husband on October 5, 1938. She leaves her children, Mrs Chelcia Shelby, Torrance, California; Mrs. Elfa Rudy, Holton, Kansas; Florence and her husband William Jackson, Borger, Texas; Fred M. Fisher and wife Cleo Mckinsey, Soldier, Kansas; Glenn E. Fisher and wife Betty Stous, Wichita, Kansas. She also leaves fifteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs Nora Johnson, Chickasha, Oklahoma and Mrs. Grace Anderson, Soldier, Kansas, and many other relatives and friends. She was a devoted mother and a kind neighbor. Those who knew her will cherish in memory the life of helpfulness which she exemplified. Memorial services were at the Mercer Funeral Home on Saturday September 22, 1962 at 2 P.M. Dr Paul Burres officiated. Music was furnished by Mrs. Don Allen and accompanied by Mrs Chas. Haag. Casket bearers were Ernest, Keith and Lyle Rudy, Don and Gene Fisher, and Ronald Jackson, all grandsons. The flowers were cared for by Dorothy Shingleton, Mrs Herbert Hess and Mrs. Marie Wilcox. Mrs. Hulda Fisher was laid to rest in the family plot in the Soldier Cemetery.

CARD OF THANKS; We wish to thank relatives, neighbors and friends, for food, flowers, cards and all other deeds of kindness during the illness and death of our loved one. We want to thank the Coleman Group of WSCS and WSC ladies who furnished food and helped to serve the diner at the church the day of the funeral.
