Death of John Powell. John Powell, an old resident of Drury township, in Illinois, died last night at 6 o'clock from the effects of a blow received on the head last Tuesday. he was assisting in butchering and a pole fell, striking him on the head with such force as to render him unconscious, he never regained consciousness and last night silently passed away. Mr. Powell was about 72 years of age. He was born in Pennsylvania, but came west when a young man and had been a resident of Drury township for 35 years. For a number of years his eyesight had been very defective; in fact, he was almost blind, but nevertheless was quite vigorous and did many things which would seem to be practically impossible for him to do. He leaves a wife three daughters and five sons. The time of the funeral has not been set but will be sometime the first of next week an announcement of the exact time will be made later.
