OBITUARY ABIAH WADSWORTH CHILD
ROY—Abiah Wadsworth Child, 92, of 5759 S 2700 W, was dead on arrival at the McKay-Dee Hospital Thursday, May 24, 1979.
Mr. Child was born October 4, 1886, at Riverdale, Utah, a son of John Squire and Susan Wadsworth Child.
He was married to Emma Clydie Olmstead on December 5, 1906, at Roy. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 26, 1907.
He was a member of the Roy 14th LDS Ward and was an active high priest. He had been a high priest group leader, home teacher, Sunday School teacher and dance director. He had entertained church and civic groups playing the harmonica and dancing.
He had been a farmer in the Roy area most of his life.
He and his wife were recently honored as the oldest married couple in Roy.
He had lived in Riverdale, Shelley, Idaho, Dayton, Idaho and Roy.
Surviving are his widow of Roy; six sons and three daughters, Fred A. Child, Mrs. Jack (Thelma)Weir, Mrs. Udell F. (Fern) Kearl, all of Roy; Ralph W. Child, Jerome, Idaho; Ellis H. Child, Pleasant View; Leslie E. Child, Burley, Idaho; Norman J. Child, Bear River; Dale G. Child, Rupert, Idaho; Mrs. Jacob (Neta) Rees, Coalville; 39 grandchildren, 88 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great grandchildren.
Also surviving are one brother and one sister, Joseph Newell Child, Bremerton, Washington; Mrs. Almeda Hamblin, Roy.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Myers Mortuary Chapel in Roy with Bishop Lowell Hadley of the Roy 14th Ward officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary tonight from 5 to 8 and Saturday prior to services. Interment in the Roy City Cemetery.
