Our dear sweet Mother, Thelma Mabel Child Weir, 90, passed away on February 10, 2005.
She was born on September 21, 1914, in Clinton, Utah, the fourth of nine children born to Abiah Wadsworth and Emma Clydie Olmstead Child. She lived most of her childhood and adult life in Roy, Utah.
She married our father, John Thomas Weir, on November 9, 1933, in Logan, Utah. They were sealed for eternity in the Logan Utah Temple on December 27, 1962. He passed away on June 28, 1961.
Mother was a member of the Roy 8th Ward, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mother was employed in the Bakery Department of the American Food Store, and Mayfair Market, and retired as the Bakery Supervisor of Smith's Food King in Roy. She enjoyed her co-workers and her association with the public very much.
She enjoyed crocheting, making quilts, afghans, and beautiful dolls to share with her family and friends. She was a master at gardening and loved to care for her plants and flowers and kept a beautiful yard. Her greatest joy and happiness came from spending time with her family. Mother's fun personality and sense of humor endured her to all.
She is survived by one son, Jack (JoAnne) Weir, Coalville, Utah: one daughter ReNae (Lamar) Barker, Roy, Utah; son-in-law Leon (Marcia) Walling, Ogden, Utah; 14 grandchildren 47 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Fern (Udell) Kearl; three brothers, Ellis H (Lorene) Child, Pleasant View, Utah; Norman J (Louise) Child, Brigham City, Utah, and Dale G (Sue) Child, Rupert Idaho; one sister-in-law, Janet Child, Burley, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one daughter, Shirley W Walling, one grandson Larry M Seifert, one sister, Neta C Rees, three brothers, Frederick A Child, Ralph W Child, and Leslie E Child; two brothers in law, Jacob Rees, Eugene E Anderson; two sisters-in-law, Marguerite P Child and Vera A Child.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 14, 2005 at noon at Myers Mortuary in Roy, 5865 S. 1900 W. Friends may call on Monday at the mortuary from 10 to 11:45 AM prior to services. Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
