BURLEY-- Leslie E. Child, 70, Burley, died Thursday, March 15, 1990 at his home.
He was born January 10, 1920 in Roy, Utah, son of Abiah Wadsworth and Emma Clydie Olmstead Child. He received his education in Roy where he attended Weber High School. He later married Janet Rock on June 21, 1941, in Morgan, Utah. They moved to the Burley area in October of 1952 where he was involved in farming, had worked for the government and had worked for Ore-Ida as a maintenance mechanic
Mr. Child was an active member of the LDS church, where he had served as a ward clerk, executive secretary, Deacon's quorum advisor, was a cub scout leader and the Aaronic Priesthood secretary. He was involved in genealogy and the Primary organization and at the time of his death was a high priest. He was also the Kamper Kooks Club general secretary.
Surviving are his wife of Burley; two sons Ronald Child, San Bernardino, California and Gary R. Child, Burley; five brothers, Fred Child, Roy, Utah, Ralph Child, Hunt, Idaho, Ellis Child, Ogden, Utah, Norman Child, Brigham City, Utah and Dale Child, Rupert, Idaho; three sisters Neta Rees Coalville, Utah, Thelma Weir & Fern Kearl, both of Roy, Utah; 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons
The funeral will be at 11 AM Monday at the Pella LDS Ward Chapel 440 S. 160 W. in Burley with Bishop Robert M Beck officiating. Burial will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Payne Mortuary.
