Rev. Sturm Reece Lawson

Rev. Sturm Reece Lawson, 75, 243 Belmont Ave., died Saturday evening (Oct. 31, 1998) at Wellmont Health Services, Kingsport, after an apparent heart attack.

A lifelong resident of Hawkins County, he retired from Tennessee Eastman Company. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cora Harris Lawson; two grandsons, Brian Lawson and Jimmy Churchwell; a granddaughter, Treva Vaydak; a great-grandson, Joshua Arnold; four brothers and two sisters.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Gladys Ilene Lawson, of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby and Earl Sizemore and Kathy and Jimmy Beasley, all of Rogersville; two sons, Johnny Lawson, St. Louis, Mo., and Dwayne Lawson, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Jeanette Lawson and B.J. and Patsy Lawson, all of Church Hill; 27 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; a sister, Blanche Manis, Florida; two brothers, Kyle Lawson, Stanton, Texas, and Grant Lawson, Rutledge; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Andy Sensabaugh officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Morning Star Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
