In 1865 she was united in marriage with John Balsley. To them were born seven children, three daughters and four sons. All reached years of maturity except one daughter who died in infancy. Surviving her are her aged husband; two daughters, Clara and Malissa; four sons, William, Milton Edward, Clarence Elmer and Welcome Harold; twenty-two grandchildren, six having preceded her in death; twelve great grandchildren; three sisters, one brother, and a larger circle of friends.
Mrs. Balsley was one of the pioneer mother of this community and braved the hardships endured by all pioneers in helping make a home in the wilderness. To her and others like her the present and future generations owe a debt that can never be fully paid.
