OLD RESIDENT DIES AT HOME NEAR BREMEN --- John Balsley, one of the oldest residents of this community, died at his home west of Bremen Friday evening after an illness of seven weeks from the weaknesses of his advanced age. Mr. Balsley was born in Marion county, Ohio, June 5th, 1836, and died Friday evening, January 22, 1926 and was eighty-nine years, seven months and seventeen days old at the time of his death. When he was a child he came with his parents to Marshall county and has resided in this community since that time. he was united in marriage with Dorcas Fisher July 29, 1865. Seven children were born to them six of whom survive. His wife preceded him in death seven years ago. The surviving children are Mrs. George Huff, Clarence E. Balsley, and Edward Balsley of Bremen; Mrs. Milissa Lowrey and William Balsley of South Bend and Harland Balsley of Logansport. He is also survived by one one brother, Charles Balsley of near Lapaz and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Platz of Lakeville and Mrs. Catherine Miller of Bremen. there are twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Grace United Brethren church Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 oclock, Rev. Alice Noble officiating. Burial was in the Bremen cemetery.
