Rosa Ann Valentine was born January 1, 1869, in Frederick County, Maryland, the daughter of Elias Frederick and Anna Maria Wetzel Valentine. On September 26, 1887, in Frederick County, she married James Edward Harman, son of Samuel and Margaret Harman. They were the parents of one son: Roland Edward Harman. Rosa passed away on June 5, 1899, near Union Bridge, Carroll County, Maryland, and was buried on the 7th in Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery, Rocky Ridge, Frederick County, Maryland.


Obituary for Rosa Ann Valentine Harman from the Frederick Daily News of June 13, 1899:

"Mrs. Rosa A. Harmon died June 5 at her home near Union Bridge from a complication of diseases, aged 31 years, 5 months and 4 days. Deceased was a daughter of Mr. Elias Valentine, of Rocky Ridge, at which place the funeral services were held by her pastor, Rev. R. L. Patterson, on Wednesday, June 7. A large gathering of relatives and friends assembled, showing the high esteem which was held for her by all who knew the departed. She is survived by a husband, Mr. Edward Harmon, and one son."
