Anna Maria Wetzel was born June 1, 1843, in Frederick County, Maryland, the daughter of William and Lucinda Wetzel. She married on October 11, 1864, in Frederick County, to Elias Frederick Valentine, son of William and Lydia Mehring Valentine. He was the widower of her sister, Mary Susan Wetzel Valentine. Elias and Anna Maria were the parents of 12 children: Martin Elmer, Dora Bell, Rosa Ann, Ella Frances, Harvey Edgar, Irvin Frederick, Nathan Luther, Susan Adeline, Clarence Leander, Ellsworth Curtis, Bertha Laura and Ethel Lavada Valentine. Anna Maria passed away on March 1, 1925, in Rocky Ridge, Frederick County, Maryland, and was buried on the 3rd in Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery there.

"Mrs. Anna M. Valentine. Mrs. Anna Maria Valentine, widow of Elias Valentine, died on Sunday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles D. Wood, Thurmont, from cerebral hemorrhage. She was aged 81 years and nine months. Funeral services in charge of Rev. J. A. Brosius, assisted by Rev. P. E. Heimer, took place on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at Tabor Church, Rocky Ridge. Interment in adjoining cemetery. Willhide and Creager, funeral directors. Mrs. Valentine is survived by the following: one sister, Mrs. Margaret Shorb, Rocky Ridge; children, M. Elmer Valentine, Emmitsburg; Mrs. Charles Nogle, York, Pa.; Mrs. David Wetzel, Harvey E. Valentine, Nathan L. Valentine, C.
