Susan Adeline Valentine was born April 23, 1878, in Frederick County, Maryland, the daughter of Elias Frederick and Anna Maria Wetzel Valentine. On September 22, 1896, in Woodsboro, Frederick County, she married Harry Nelson Knipple, son of Elias and Virginia Margaret Krug Knipple. They were the parents of 3 sons: Charles Elias, Morris Leroy and Clyde Valentine Knipple. Susan passed away on September 5, 1943, at Motter's Station, Frederick County, and was buried on the 8th in Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery, Rocky Ridge, Frederick County, Maryland.

"Harry Knipple, 20, of Motter's Station, Frederick County, and Susan Valentine, 18, of near Rocky Ridge. Married September 22, 1896, at Woodsboro, by R. S. Patterson. License dated September 21, 1896. Eli Knipple and Virginia Knipple gave consent to marriage license."

"Motters, April 29. --Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Knipple on Sunday were: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Knipple and son, Richard, and Mr. and Mrs. Morris Knipple and daughter, Arlene, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nogle and children, all of York, Pennsylvania; Miss Ora Whitmore, of Emmitsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wood and daughter, Mildred, of Rocky Ridge; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wood, of Washington. Mrs. Knipple, who has been a sufferer for some time from rheumatism, is slowly improving."

"Susie A. Knipple, wife of Harry N. Knipple, died Monday night at her home at Motter's Station, near Emmitsburg. Death was due to a heart condition after an illness of about three weeks. She was aged 66 years. Mrs. Knipple was a member of the Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church at Rocky Ridge. She is survived by her husband; three sons, Charles, Morris, and Clyde, all of York, Pennsylvania, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. James Shriner, of Loy's Station; Mrs. Charles Wood, of Emmitsburg; Harvey and Newton Valentine, of Rocky Ridge; and Ellsworth C. Valentine, of Frederick; also five grandchildren. The body is at the funeral home in Thurmont and will be taken to the late hoe Wednesday afternoon at four o'clock, where friends may call Wednesday evening from seven to nine o'clock. Funeral services will take place in the Mt. Tabor Church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Philip Bower officiating. Interment in adjoining cemetery. M. L Creager and Son, funeral directors."

Interment in Rocky Ridge Cemetery. M. L. Creager and Son, funeral directors."
