Son of James Andrew Palmer and Sarah Cox.
Named after his paternal grandfather, Levi Palmer, and maternal grandfather, Calvin Cox. However, his sisters called him Leed or Leedie and he signed his name Lee Palmer.

Fort Worth star Telegram-May 17, 1969-"Funeral services for C. L. Palmer, 87, 2216 NE 1st Avenue, were held at 4 p.m., May 17, in the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Chapel with Rev. Floyd A Boulware officiating Interment was in Woodland Park Cemetery.

Mr. Palmer was born in Jefferson County, Alabama April 2, 1882, and had lived in Mineral Wells for 30 years. He was a retired employee of the Highway Department and church custodian, and a member of the First Methodist Church. He died as 2:06 a.m., May 16, 1969 in a Fort Worth hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Esther, Mineral Wells; sons, Wade Palmer, Midwest City, Oklahoma; Forest Palmer, Kingston, New York; Leland Palmer, Mineral Wells; a daughter, Mrs. V. S. Scott, Weatherford; a sister, Laura Middleton, Bridgeport, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces an nephews. Pall bearers were H. A Brookshire, Cecil Pemberton, Billy Barnett, Douglas Price, Kenneth Moore, W.D. "Jim" Harrington. "
