He worked at Fellows Gear Shaper Company in Springfield, VT for twenty-five years as a pattern maker and also worked as a carpenter for most of his life.
He was a fifty year member of the Lincoln Grange #421 on North Springfield VT and was a square dance caller for thirty years.
He is survived by his wife Leona (Dagenais) Allen of Claremont whom he married on September 3, 1938; one brother, Duane D. Allen Jr. of Cornish; one sister Mrs. Esther Lord of Claremont and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers Albert Allen in 1963, Claude Allen in 1986, Harland Allen in 1975, and a brother who died in infancy; a sister Lillian Hill in 1996.
Interment will be in St Mary's Cemetery.

A 50th anniversary party was held September 3 at the American Legion Hall for Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Allen. The celebration was hosted by Mrs. Allen's brothers and families and sister. Mr. and Mrs. Allen were married at St. Mary's by Rev. Lessard September 3, 1938. The bridesmaid, Louise (Mussey) Spafford was present. The best man, George Dagenais, is deceased. The anniversary cake was made by Claude Raymond Allen and decorated by David Duncan, both of Windsor. The dinner was catered by Marianne Blake of Windsor for 154 guests. Dancing followed the dinner and the music was provided by the Whitcomb Band. Guests came from New Hampshire, Vermont, Michigan, Rhode Island, New York, and Oklahoma.
