Mr. Roy Lee Barnes, 82, of Steele, Mo., died Monday, February 5, 1996, at Baptist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Born September 21, 1913, at Caruthersville, Mo., he was a son of the late Ollie Barnes and Martha Luanna Brooks Barnes.

A brother, George Barnes, also preceded him in death. George was killed during World War II while he was serving in the South West Pacific.

At Steele on December 4, 1938, he was united in marriage with Rachel Ledford.

An active member of the Church of Christ in Steele, he was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army as a second lieutenant, was a farmer, and an employee at Still Gin until his retirement.

Funeral services for Mr. Barnes were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 1996, at the church of Christ in Steele with Mr. Mark Raulerson and Mr. Bill Brown officiating.

Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with arrangements by John W. German Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were Carroll Lorren, Dee Crews, Harold Barnes, Barry Riddick, John Brown, Neal Gibbons, Jr., Brad Barnes and Joe Curry.
