Rita Barnes Kifa, 67, of Hartselle, Alabama went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 11, 2019.
Rita was born to the late Roy and Rachel Barnes in 1951.
She grew up in Steele, MO where she graduated from South Pemiscot High School in 1969. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Southeast Missouri State University.
Rita was the beloved wife of James Melvin Kifer for forty seven years.
She is survived by two daughters, Shelly (Jason) Tomlinson and Stephanie (Zac) Littrell, both of Franklin, TN, a sister, Myrana Lee Wallen of Baton Rouge, LA, and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. She delighted in her grandchildren Rachael Elise Tomlinson, Joseph Kifer Tomlinson, Celia Kifer Littrell, and Shelly Morgan Littrell.
Rita was a devoted member of the Hartselle Church of Christ where she dedicated herself to serving others through teaching Sunday School, hosting numerous bridal and baby showers and encouraging others with her bright smile and encouraging spirit.
Rita was an accomplished cook, master seamstress, artist, word traveler, cancer survivor and faithful servant of God. In her lifetime she visited twenty seven countries, all fifty states, and all provinces in Canada.
The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Hartselle Church of Christ, with service following. Graveside service will be held at Mount Zion Cemetery, Steele, MO at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15.
Rita's family and friends would like to express their utmost gratitude to her caregiver and friends who diligently comforted throughout her long illness.
Pallbearers were Andy Dukes, Rob Ellis, Kerry Hamlett, Keith Pritchard, Julian Sfetcu and Alan Walker. Honorary pallbearers were Cecil Cole, Evyless Holcomb, Paul Norrid, Jim Reeder, Clarence Walls, and J.D. Woodard III will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Flowers always brought a smile to her heart because she delighted in seeing God's creations grow into their full glory.
In that same spirit, the family has requested donations be made in her honor to Lar Mana Children's Home in Recife, Brazil. Please visit Iarmana,us for more information.
