Gehrig, Bernard (Feb. 19, 1869-April 4, 1943 –husband of Rosa Heinzen [married April 24, 1894 at St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton] –son of Herbert Gehrig and Angeline Hoffmann –born Osterburgen, Baden –immigrated to the US on the boat Pennland departing from the Port of Antwerp, arriving in the Port of New York on May 23, 1883 in company of his parents and younger brother Joseph –in 1883 moved with his parents to the St. Nazianz area –mason –on Dec. 13, 1917 purchased the house at 304 South Fourth Avenue in St. Nazianz –it seems the Gehrig’s rented this house since at least 1900 from Fr. Charles Stetter –in the 1900 census for the Town of Eaton, Bernard and his family are shown living in this house –Bernard lived in this house until his death in 1943 –his widow Rose lived here until selling on Jan. 14, 1961 –died from “acute coronary occlusion –arteriosclerosis”) –buried at St. Gregory Catholic Cemetery in St. Nazianz, Town of Eaton [buried in Section 4, Row 1, Lot 16] [marriage record Manitowoc 6-24] [death record Manitowoc 36-130]
