Retired in 1957 and moved to a farm North of Corder.
From 1957-1960 he taught in Trinity Lutheran school in Alma, Mo. and then taught in the public schools of both Corder and Alma, retiring once more in 1965.
Graduate of Central Missouri State Teachers College in Warrensburg.
Member of Zion Lutheran Church and served that congregation in the manner of organist and choir director until retirement in 1989, having been in the Lord's service for over 60 dedicated years.
SURVIVORS: His wife Anna, one son Ernie Wendell Schafer, Corder, Mo., three daughters Shirley Ann Lee, Kansas City North, Carol Lee Oetting, Charleston, Ill., and Sharon Kay Bobzin, Concordia, Mo., two brothers, Louis Schafer, Tobias, and Leonard Schafer, Daykin, Neb., three sisters, Emma Bartels, Topeka, Hanna (sic) Bartels, Tobias, and Elizabeth Loseke, Columbus, Nebraska, fifteen grandchildren and 10 great grand children.
