She married Robert S. Brown in Texas in 1876 and had 10 children with him, 9 of whom lived to adulthood. Their names and names of their spouses and children were passed on by her great-grandson, which is fortunate as the surviving written records are scarce.
The only certain appearance of Robert and Nancy Brown together in the census is in 1880 in Bell County, Texas. They are listed as "R. S. H. Brown" and "N. S. C. Brown" along with their first two children Charles and Myrtle.
In 1900, a likely entry in Falls County, Texas only lists Robert Brown (married and the right age and birthplace) without his wife or any children. Their son Charles (age 22) can be found living with his mother's brother's family, and their daughter Ludie Pearl is married and living with her first husband Sam Wooley, but otherwise none of the rest of the family members have been located.
Likewise, no probable census records for Robert and Nancy or their unmarried younger children have been found in either the 1910 or 1920 censuses.
All of their children's death certificates (with the exception of Johnnie Lee, whose death certificate hasn't been found) list Robert and Nancy Brown as their parents, and Nancy is buried in Killeen City Cemetery adjacent to her daughter Annie.
