The death of Miss Bertha Hermann on August 21, 1912 caused a pall of sadness to envelop her devoted family and large circle of friends who had known and loved her from infancy. Miss Hermann, though young, had been a sufferer for about 18 years. Her disease baffled the most eminent physicians. Despite her suffering she arose above difficulties and graduated as a nurse in the Brinkley Sanitarium in Memphis, Tennessee. As long as her health permitted, she was at the head of the nurse corps at the Hermann-Evans Sanitarium in Sandersville, Georgia, at which place she died after weeks of critical illness. During this time her devoted brothers, Messrs. E.H. Hermann of Scotland, Georgia, Herbert Hermann and Hyman Hermann of Atlanta, Dr. Isadore Hermann of Columbus, Georgia, Dr. Henry Hermann and Mr. Cecil Hermann, with her parents, Captain Isaac Hermann and wife, and her only sister, Mrs. Henry Paris, were constantly hovering near the suffering patient. The internment was in the City Cemetery in Sandersville, Georgia, Rev. T.W. Rapley, pastor of the M.E. Church, officiating.
