A native of Washington County, Georgia, Herbert D. Hermann was the son of the late Captain Isaac Hermann and Mrs. Rachel Hertz Hermann. He served in World War I.

"Mr. Herbert", as he was familiarly called, was born on November 9, 1887. He had retired from business. Mr. Herbert had friends in all walks of life and remembered many people with deeds of kindness in time of need.

Survivors include one brother, Isadore Hermann of Columbus, Georgia; four nieces, Miss Rachel Paris of Atlanta, Mrs. W. A. Caughran of Athens, Alabama, Mrs. Leila Leisher of Sandersville, Georgia, and Mrs. Rodham W. Kenna of Washington, D.C.; and four nephews, Leroy Paris of Lexington, Mississippi, Hermann Paris of Atlanta, Jake Hermann of Durant, Mississippi, and Frank Hermann of Sandersville, Georgia.

Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 1962 at the Old City Cemetery in Sandersville, Georgia, with the Rev. E.G. Orahood officiating.
