Bessie Lesovsky Makalous, daughter of Emanuel and Katherine Lesovsky, was born on a farm northeast of Wayne, Kan., February 17, 1891, and passed away at the Republic County Hospital August 3, 1965, at the age of 74 years, 5 months and 16 days.
She received her education at Farmington school. On October 15, 1910 she was united in marriage to Frank Makalous. The lived the greater portion of their married life on their farm north of Cuba, until 1960, when they moved to Cuba. This union was blessed with two children, Lawrence and Eileen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, George, Henry, Edward, and Frank, and two grandchildren, Eldon Gene Makalous and Connie Jean Plevka.
Surviving and mourning her loss are her husband, Frank of Cuba; a son, Lawrence of Cuba; a daughter, Mrs. Eileen Plevka of Bellevile; four grandchildren, Verlene Joyce and Verna Rae Makalous, Kerwin Frank and John Paul Plevka; three brothers, Joseph and Charles of Cuba, and William of West Covina, Cal.; two sisters, Rosie Fisher and Mary Novak; many other relatives and a host of friends.
In October of 1960, the couple celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
Her chief interest in life was her family and her home. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother, a wonderful neighbor and friend to everyone.
Funeral services were held on August 5, at the Presbyterian church in Cuba, Kan. Reverend David Seward conducted the services with Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart in charge.
