Fern P. Tavernier, 87, of Porter, Indiana, passed away on Monday, June 11, 2001 at Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso, IN.

Born in Upham, North Dakota on January 28, 1914 to the late Arthur and Edith Cripe Holderbaum. Married March 14, 1931 in South Bend, IN, to Ivan M. Tavernier who preceded March 5, 1987.

Survived by daughters, Naomi R. Tavernier of Porter, IN and Shirley (Donald) Sharpe of Portage, IN; brothers: preceded by Glenn Holderbaum and half-brother Milo Holderbaum; also survived by sisters: Marjorie Miller of Goshen, IN, Ruby (Mervin) Etsinger of New Paris, IN, Bonnie (William) Smith of Goshen, IN, Jean (Everett) Whitehead of Wakarusa, IN and Wilma (Charles) Wenger of Goshen, IN and preceded by Edna Wilhelm; survived by two grandchildren, Donald Sharpe II and Diane (Dale) Misch, both of Portage, IN, and three great-grandchildren: Thomas Joseph Misch, Melinda Sue Misch and Bradley Eric Sharpe.

Funeral services Friday, June 15, 2001, 10:30 A.M. at the Liberty Bible Church, 824 N. Calumet, Chesterton, IN, Rev. Al Marquez officiating. Interment, Chesterton Cemetery, Chesterton, IN. Visitation Thursday, June 14th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN.

Mrs. Tavernier was an area resident since 1946. She was a Homemaker and a member of Liberty Bible Church. Memorials may be made to either the Liberty Bible Church Building Fund or to the Christian Haven.
