Mr. Schranz, died early Tuesday morning, Oct. 21, 1997 at his home, following a brief illness. Born in Chicago, Ill., Oct. 5, 1907, he is survived by two sisters, Bertha Lennon of Gladwin and Josephine Behnke of Bay City, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Gertrude Beauchamp; his parents, Charles and Elizabeth Schranz; one brother, Albert Schranz; and two sisters, Elizabeth Wright and Rose Stutzman.
Mr. Schranz served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was with the Fifth Cavalry Reconnaissance Troop, Fifth Infantry Division, Third Army under Gen. Geo. Patton. Among other commendations, he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action.
Funeral services were held at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Timothy Verity officiating. Burial was at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin. Gladwin County Record dated 10-29/1997 Column – 3 Page – 2.
