Josephine Behnke, 96, of Essexville and formerly of Gladwin, passed away Sunday, Oct. 10, 199 at the Bay Medical Care Facility. She was born Nov. 4, 1902 in Stuben, Austria to Carl and Elizabeth Schranz. Josephine married Jack Woltman in December 1922 in Gladwin. He passed away in July of 1941. She then married Henry Behnke May 30, 1952 in Angola, Ind. They came to Gladwin in 1970 from Durand. He passed away in August of 1983. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Gladwin.
Surviving are two sons, Jack and Richard Woltmann both of Jackson; one daughter, Elizabeth Jones of Essexville; one step-son, James Behnke of Renton, Wash.; 17 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and one sister, Bertha Lennon of Gladwin. Services were held Tuesday at Our Savior Lutheran Church with the Rev. Timothy Verity officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetey. Arrangements were handled by Sisson Funeral Home.
