Melvin B. Stallbaumer, 77, of Seneca, KS, died Saturday, August 20, 1983, at the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital. He had been in ill health for the past five years.
He was born on a farm south of St. Benedict on July 18, 1906, the son of William Edward and Anna Engelken Stallbaumer. He attended St. Mary's School at St. Benedict and later went into farming.
On June 1, 1932, he married Mary Lackey at St. Benedict. They lived and farmed north of Corning, KS. In 1939 they moved to a farm west of Corning. He retired from farming 1971 and remained on the farm. In 1974, he moved into Seneca. Mary died June 10, 1964.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and a former member of St. Patrick's Church in Corning.
Survivors are sons, Gary Stallbaumer, Topeka, KS; Eldon Stallbaumer, Seneca, KS; daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Malloy, Centralia, KS; brothers, Walter Stallbaumer, Sylvester Stallbaumer, Paul Stallbaumer, all of Seneca, KS; sisters, Florence Fangman, Edna Sack, Mary Ann Huninghake, all of Seneca, KS; Alma Sack, Denver, CO; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents; brothers, Herman Stallbaumer, Victor Stallbaumer, Eugene Stallbaumer; Norbert Stallbaumer; sisters, Irene Fangman, Marcella Rottinghaus and Doris Stallbaumer.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Seneca, KS. Burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Corning, KS.
