James Eugene Kite went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, having lived a full and eventful life. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at Bridgewood Church of Christ, 6516 Brentwood Stair Rd., Fort Worth. Interment: to follow in the Gethsemene section of Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Moore Funeral Home on North Davis.

James was born Nov. 5, 1926, in Camp Springs, to Lacy Homer and Delia Wilson Kite. James loved to rodeo in his younger years before joining the Navy where he served on the Flagship USS Chicago. After his honorable discharge, he became a cattle rancher, and later an industrial engineer at Lockheed. He often taught college-level engineering classes before his retirement after 31 years at Lockheed. He was also a Bible scholar, teaching for many years in the Churches of Christ, where he also served as an elder and helped establish new congregations. He worshipped with the Bridgewood Church of Christ for 20-plus years. James will be greatly missed by his family and many others whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents and two older brothers, Thomas Oliver Kite and Smith Kite.

Survivors: His beloved wife of 63 years, Joyce Elizabeth Kite; children, James Lacy (Sherry) Kite, Jeanne (Clifton) Fuller and Kathy (Ronnie) Barcroft; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brother, Haun (Neva) Kite; sister, Fay Nell (Roy) Davis; sisters-in-law, Mary and Mauryene Kite; and many other dear family members.
