Mrs. John Jenkinson, Verdigre, Dies April 17

Funeral services for Mrs. John Jenkinson of Verdigre, who died April 17 at Lundberg Memorial Hospital were conducted last Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Verdigre with the Rev. Tom Peck officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Creighton. Pallbearers were Dennis Darr, Meredith Volk, Alan Darr, Carl Prischmann, Dan Prischmann and John Volk, all grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were Andrew Paesl, Ted Haverkamp, Marvin Mlady, Rudolph Konopasek, Harry Berger and Roger Tenney.

Bertha Leila Gentzler was born Oct. 8, 1895 near Venus to Philip and Julia Gentzler. She attended school at Pleasant Hill, Creighton High School and Wayne State College. She taught school from 1912 through 1915 in rural schools in Knox County.

She was united in marriage with Walter B. Darr on Jan. 13, 1915. Five children were born to them. She moved to town in 1942 and made her home here until 1947.

She was baptized Aug. 20, 1942 at Bazile Mills. She was a member of the Federated Church in Creighton and in June 1967 transferred her membership to the Methodist Church in Verdigre.

On Dec. 25, 1947 she was married to John Jenkinson at the Grace Bible Church. they made their home on a farm west of Verdigre, where they resided until October 1969, when they moved to Verdigre.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Darr, her parents, two sisters and four brothers.

Surviving are her husband; five children, Howard Darr of Verdigre, Mrs. Carl (Helen) Prischmann of Elizabeth, Minn. Neal Darr of Denver, Colo., Mrs. John (Doris) Volk of Battle Creek and David Darr of Lincoln; 18 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two sisters.
