Frank Phillip Gentzler was born Sept. 1, 1888 at Nickerson, a son of Phillip and Julia Ann Gentzler and died following a heart attack July 29 at his home at Bruce Park Terrace in Creighton at the age of 78.
He attended school at Creighton and also Wayne State College.
He was a carpenter and lived in Knox and Pierce counties, Plainview and Creighton. He worked for the Navy four years at Kodiak, Alaska. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church.
He was married to Louise Fletcher on Oct. 6, 1911 at Fairfax, S.D. Four sons and four daughters were born to them.
Survivors include the children, Hadley of Norfolk, Harlan of Hyattville, Wyo., James Sr. of Plainview, Wm., Mrs. Fred (Phyllis) Knapp, Mrs. Wm. (Norma) Meske and LuElla Ellridge, all of Seattle, Wash. and Mrs. Robert (LaRoyce) Anderton of Mobile, Ala.; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Calvin (Laura) York of Settle, Wash., Mrs. Amy Whiting of Clitherall, Minn., Mrs. Baron (Abbie) Darr of Creighton and Mrs. John (Bertha) Jenkinson of Verdigre.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were conducted Aug 3 at the Methodist Church in Plainview with the Rev. Robert Favre officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery at Creighton. Pallbearers were James Gentzler Jr., David Gentzler, Roger Gentzler, Stanley Gentzler, Jerry Gentzler and Keith Gentzler.
