OBITUARY OF MRS. TOM DIXON
Minnie Furtney Dixon, daughter of Aaron and Martha Furtney, was born on April 1, 1879 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Robert Dixon on July 14, 1897. To this union four children were born Dewey (86346777), Aaron (90906391), Martha (42993961) and Robert (71922070). Her husband, Robert, was accidentally killed June 1, 1910.
She married Robert's brother, Thomas, in 1911. They were blessed with two sons, John (91099203) and Glenn (90899136). They lived in Rockford Township until retiring to Buffalo in 1938. The last four years failing health made it necessary for them to make their home with their son Glenn and family.
For many years she was active in church work and a Sunday school teacher at the Buffalo Presbyterian Church.
Taken to the Buffalo Memorial hospital on May 2nd, after suffering a stroke, she passed away on May 12th at the age of 79 years, one month and 12 days.
Left to mourn her passing are her one daughter, Mrs. Martha Gilbert, four sons, Dewey, Robert, John and Glenn, one sister, Mrs. Ella Hatch, all of Buffalo; also 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
Her husband, Thomas, 1 son, Aaron, and one grandson, Lloyd, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 15th, at 2 p.m. at the Buffalo Presbyterian Church, with Marshall Bjorklund officiating.
The Women's Trio of the Presbyterian Church sang, accompanied by Mrs. Ronald Klemz. The pallbearers were Thomas Dixon, Julius Dixon, Winfred Forsythe, Myles Lavine, Henry Lavine and Robert Lavine.
Interment was in the Elmwood Cemetery at Rockford, Minn.
