Robert and Alma Dixon
Bob and Alma farmed with the older brother, Dewey, for one year on the old Dixon homestead in Frankfort Township. In 1929 they purchased a farm in the Village of Hanover, Minnesota. They raised six children on this farm. The depression years were rough but they stuck it out and built up this 120-acre dairy farm to a nice business before they retired. Upon retirement they built a home on a small part of the farm which was cut off by construction of a county road.
The youngest daughter and her husband bought the live stock and machinery and rented the farm from Bob and Alma for several years. A year ago they decided to quit farming and sold everything at which time the youngest son bought the farm and lives there with his family at this time. (1987)

Good Company for a Ride
Along for the ride during the hot spell last week, Scrapper, the faithful companion of Bob Dixon, 86 of Hanover, does not seen to mind the scorching mid-afternoon heat. With a call from Dixon, the daring dog leaps into his mater's lap, and off they go. Dixon, who is accustomed to July's 90-plus-degree hot spells after farming near his home from 1929 to 1974, said Scrapper loves to ride in cars as well as on the mower. The dog was given to him by his granddaughter last May. Bob said, when his wife Alma was in a nursing home recovering from a broken pelvis, Scrapper was good company. Alma is now back home, Bob happily reported.

Robert Lloyd (Bob) Dixon, son of Robert and Minnie Dixon, was born on September 22, 1908. He married Alma Peikert on April 11, 1928. Bob farmed in partnership with his brother Dewey on the Robert Dixon Sr. homestead for one year. Bob and Alma bought the Henry Engelart farm in the Village of Hanover in 1929. They farmed this land until retiring to a new home on the north edge of the property in the mid 1970's.
Alma died on February 9, 1996, and Bob died on April 2, 1998. They are buried in the Hanover City Cemetery, in Hanover, Minnesota.
The Bob and Alma Dixon family presented the Hanover City Cemetery with a very large granite marker ,"HANOVER CITY CEMETERY. In memory of Robert Sr., and Alma Dixon." On the reverse side it says, "Parents of Robert Jr., Darlene, Maxine, Janice, Gloria, Walter.

Robert L. Dixon, 89, of Hanover died Thursday, April 2, 1998 at the Ebenezer Covenant Home.
He was born in Frankfort Township, Wright County, on September 22, 1908 the son of Robert and Minnie Furtney Dixon.
Robert Dixon was baptized on June 10, 1910 at the United Presbyterian Church in Rockford. He was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith by the Reverend William Beieswanger on February 17, 1938 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover.
On April 11, 1928, Robert Dixon was joined in holy marriage to Alma Peikert at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover. God blessed their marriage with six children. Mrs. Dixon preceded he husband in death on February 9, 1996.
Following his marriage, Mr. Dixon farmed in Frankfort Township for one year. From 1929 until 1972 Mr. Dixon engaged in farming in Hanover.
Mr. Dixon was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover and he was a former Church Trustee. He also belonged to the Hanover Golden Agers.
Survivors; children - Robert E. "Buddy" (Darlene) Dixon of Hanover, Darlene A. (Norman)Dehmer of St. Michael, Maxine (Herman) Ladda of Hanover, Janice E. Anselment of Mountain Home, Idaho, Gloria (Weldon) Ebert and Walter "Butch" (Nealie) Dixon all of Hanover; 20 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild; a brother - Glenn (Lorraine) Dixon of Buffalo; a sister - Martha Gilbert of Buffalo. Further survived by sister-in-laws, brothers -in-law, many other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Alma, Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by his parents, by two great grandsons - Gerrit "Gary" Eull and Justin Eull; and by three brothers - Aaron, Dewey and John.
Funeral services for Robert Dixon were held on Sunday April 5, 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hanover. Pastor Paul R. Settergren officiated, and interment followed at the Hanover Village Cemetery.
Friends called at the Peterson Chapel St. Michael - Albertville Funeral Home on Saturday April 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m.
Jane Ann Settergren was the service's organist. Dawn Ladda sang "Amazing Grace." Jeanne Dixon sang "Daddy's Hands."
"My Hope is Built on Nothing Less" and "Just As I Am" were sung as Congregational hymns.
James Anselment was a honorary casket bearer.
Ken Dehmer, Mark Ladda, Mark Dixon, Brad Ebert, Tom Ebert, R. Reece Dixon and Mathew Dixon served as casket bearers.
The Peterson Chapel St. Michael - Albertville Funeral Home served the family.
