Martha Louisa Gilbert, 102, of Buffalo died peacefully in her home Tuesday, February 19th, 2008.
Martha was born October 13th, 1905 to Robert and Minnie (nee Furtney) Dixon in Frankfort Township. She was a lifetime resident of Wright County and lived on the family farm, in Rockford Township, for 83 years. She enjoyed gardening, tatting and baking. She was known to many at the ˜Cookie Lady™ because she always served cookies and coffee to whoever came to visit her. She always enjoyed having company especially the grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren besides many other relatives and friends.
She married Willard ˜Bill™ Gilbert on September 24th, 1924 and together they were blessed with 3 children: Robert (Joyce) Gilbert, Joan Christiansen and Helen (Les) Bakke. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law: Lorraine Dixon; and many nephews, nieces, friends and other relatives.
Martha is preceded in death by her husband: Willard in 1947; parents: Robert and Minnie Dixon, son-in-law: Don Christiansen; grandson: Curtis Christiansen; and brothers: Aaron, Dewey, John, Robert and Glenn Dixon.
Her visitation will be Friday, February 22nd, 2008 from 4 to 8pm at the Buffalo Covenant Church. There will be a prayer service at 7:30pm.
Martha™s funeral service will be Saturday, February 23rd, 2008 at 11am at the Buffalo Covenant Church. There will be a 1 hour visitation prior to the start of service. Pastor Bret Schmidt will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Jared Hahn, Jeff Hahn, Greg Hahn, Jason Smelter, Nathan Hill, Chuck Peterson and Nick Peterson.
Internment services will be Saturday, February 23rd, 2088 at 9:30am at Lakeview Cemetery in Buffalo.
