Glenn was a lifetime member of the Wright County Historical Society. His hobbies included a wood shop on the farm where he made dozens of signs, toys and crafts from wood, as well as restoring old gasoline engines and showing them and other old time tools at the Wright County Fair. He converted the basement of the old cattle barn into a museum with dozens of "one of a kind" antique tools. His last project involved constructing a sawmill. He had it working but wanted to supply the power in a different manner. This is a job for his son-in-laws.

Glenn Furtney Dixon, 79, of Rockford Township, rural Buffalo died late Friday, July 28, 2000 at the Buffalo Hospital.
He was born on August 7, 1920 the son of Thomas and Minnie Furtney Dixon in Rockford Township, Wright County.
On May 22, 1943 Glenn Dixon and Lorraine Matter were joined in holy marriage in Delano. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters.
Glenn engaged in farming in Rockford Township for many years. He also gave 32 years of service (1968-2000) to the Wright County Parks Department as the Parks Maintenance Foreman and as a Parks Advisory Board Member. Glenn and his fellow workers planted acres of trees, which are now being enjoyed by many.
Mr. Dixon was a faithful member of the Buffalo Presbyterian Church and was a trustee for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Wright County Historical Society and was currently serving as a board member. Glenn was also a former longtime Rockford Township Supervisor. He loved flying and was a charter member of the Delta Aviation Flying Club of Buffalo.
He enjoyed wood working and taking his gasoline engine to the Wright County Fair each year.
Glenn is survived by his wife Lorraine E. Dixon, daughters Linda (Jerry) Flynn and Kathleen (Herman) Ernst all of Buffalo; grandchildren Carrie (Simon) Almaer of Plymouth, Kelly (Terry) Boyle and Corey Dixon Flynn all of Buffalo; great grandchildren David Almaer, Luke and Laura Boyle; a sister Martha Gilbert of Buffalo; brothers--in-law Alfred Matter, Leonard (Eva) Matter, Clemens (Jean) Matter and Helen Matter all of Delano, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by four brothers, Aaron, Dewey, John and Robert Dixon.
Funeral services for Glenn Dixon were held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 31 at the Buffalo Presbyterian Church. Reverend Dean W. Brown officiated and interment followed at Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford.
Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, July 30 at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30.
Congregational hymns for the funeral service were "The Old Rugged Cross, "Abide with Me", "Rock of Ages - Cleft for Me" and "In the Garden." The organist for the service was Marlene Mohwinkel.
Casket bearers were David Dixon, Robert "Buddy" Dixon, Walter "Butch" Dixon, Robert Gilbert, Dave Matter and Joe Matter.
