Robert Dixon, a representative farmer, who spent the span of his years in Rockford township, was born in that township October 26, 1869, the son of James Dixon, the pioneer. He was educated in the schools of his neighborhood and learned farming from his father. After arriving at adult years he acquired a farm next to the family homestead. He was in the prime of his activities when he died, June 1, 1910, as the result of being thrown from his team while making a business trip to Minneapolis. He was survived by his wife (Minnie Furtney) and four children, Dewey (86346777), Aaron (90906391), Martha (42993961) and Robert (71922070). Mr. Dixon was one of the strong, substantial men of the community, and his untimely death was widely mourned.

He was just entering the city Monday evening about 8 o'clock, intending to return home next day with a gasoline launch for A.W. Furtney, when the wagon pole dropped, striking the horses, which ran away. He was thrown out, his head striking the curb. He was picked up unconscious and taken to the hospital.
The news of the accident came to Buffalo through a man who knew him in the city, who saw an account of the accident in the morning papers. He telephoned to John Dixon here. The identification at the hospital was from a bill from a meat market, with R. Dixon on it, but no address.
He did not regain consciousness and died Wednesday morning . The funeral services were held from his home at Lake Charlotte, Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Sellie.

Louis Desatell, 2315 Russell avenue north, jumped into the wagon and attempted to stop the horses; but found there was something wrong with the lines and had to get out again fearing he might meet the same fate as Dixon.
