Robert Dixon, a representative farmer, who spent the span of his years in Rockford township, was born in that township October 26, 1869, the son of James Dixon, the pioneer. He was educated in the schools of his neighborhood and learned farming from his father. After arriving at adult years he acquired a farm next to the family homestead. He was in the prime of his activities when he died, June 1, 1910, as the result of being thrown from his team while making a business trip to Minneapolis. He was survived by his wife (Minnie Furtney) and four children, Dewey (86346777), Aaron (90906391), Martha (42993961) and Robert (71922070). Mr. Dixon was one of the strong, substantial men of the community, and his untimely death was widely mourned.

The actual newspaper account of the death of Robert Dixon stated, "He was just entering the city of Minneapolis Monday evening about eight o'clock, intending to return home the next day with a gasoline launch for A. W. Furtney, when the wagon pole dropped, striking the horses, which ran away. He was thrown out, his head striking the curb. He was picked up unconscious and taken to the hospital... The identification at the hospital was from a bill from a meat market, with R. Dixon in it, but no address. He did not regain consciousness. Mr. Dixon was one of the strong, substantial men of the community, and his untimely death was widely mourned.: Minnie Furtney Dixon was widowed at age 29.

DEATH BY ACCIDENT
In the Rockford news last week was an account of the death of Robert Dixon at Minneapolis. He was just entering the city Monday evening about 8 o'clock, intending to return home next day with a gasoline launch for A.W. Furtney, when the wagon pole dropped, striking the horses, which ran away. He was thrown out, his head striking the curb. He was picked up unconscious and taken to the hospital.
The news of the accident came to Buffalo through a man who knew him in the city, who saw an account of the accident in the morning papers. He telephoned to John Dixon here. The identification at the hospital was from a bill from a meat market, with R. Dixon on it, but no address.
He did not regain consciousness and died Wednesday morning . The funeral services were held from his home at Lake Charlotte, Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Sellie.
Robert Dixon was born in Rockford Township nearly 41 years ago, and had a farm next to the old homestead. His father, James Dixon, died last January, over eighty years of age. His mother is living, and his immediate family left are his wife and four children. He married Minnie Furtney thirteen years ago. Other surviving members of his family are four bothers, John, Thomas, William and Andrew, and two sisters, Mrs. John Forsythe of Rockford and Mrs. W. G. Sim, of California, who is now here.

Robert Dickson, 40 years old, a farmer of Rockford, died at the City hospital from injuries received in a runaway last Monday. Dickson had come to the city to take a new launch he had purchased out to Crystal Lake. His team became frightened and ran away at Crystal Lake and Ilion Avenues. Dickson was thrown out and the wheels of the wagon passed over his head.

He Is Thrown From Wagon When Horses Run Away
R. Dixon of Rockford, Minn., was thrown out of his wagon at 1800 Crystal Lake Avenue when his horses ran away last night, landing head first to the curb. He was partially scalped and sustained several serious bruises about the body and remained unconscious several hours after being taken to the City hospital. It was stated there that he has a chance for recovery.
Dixon had driven all the way from Rockford to Minneapolis. His horses became frightened and started to run and before he could control them the wagon struck some obstruction and he was thrown out.
Louis Desatell, 2315 Russell avenue north, jumped into the wagon and attempted to stop the horses; but found there was something wrong with the lines and had to get out again fearing he might meet the same fate as Dixon.

Robert Dixon died Wednesday, the result of an accident in Minneapolis Monday. He drove to the city on business and about five o'clock, on his way home, the horses ran away, throwing him out of the rig, his head striking the curb. He was taken to a hospital and died not regaining consciousness. He lived on a farm at Lake Charlotte and leaves a wife and children. One brother lives on an adjoining farm and John Dixon of Lake Pulaski, William and Thomas living east of Buffalo are brothers.
