George D. Grube Sr., 80, of Land O' Lakes, Wis, formerly of Sheboygan, died Friday evening at St. Michael Hospital, Stevens Point, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Grube was born June 12, 1898 in Sheboygan, a son of August and Elizabeth Grube. He attended public grade school. On Dec. 28, 1917, he married Esther Guenther, also of Sheboygan. During World War I, he served with Company C, 127th Infantry in France. He was employed at the Kohler Co. until 1952, when the couple moved to Land O' Lakes. He was self employed there as a painter and interior decorator until retirement in 1963.

Mr. Grube was a member of the Ely Memorial United Church of Christ, Land O' Lakes, the Company C Last Man's Club, Barracks 2505 Veterans of World War I at Eagle River and the Land O' Lakes American Legion post 464. Survivors are his wife, five sons, Charles R., of Route 1, New Holstein, George Jr., of Route 1, Kiel, Robert of Fontana, Calif., Richard of Route 1, Amherst Junction, and Kenneth of Kiel; three daughters, Mrs. Louis (Marion) Katusic of Route 1, Valders, Mrs. Marvin (Elizabeth) Krosschell of Ignace, Ontario, Canada, and Mrs. Robert (Diane) Billman of Sheboygan Falls; 33 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, three brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels, the Rev. George Mohr, pastor of Zion United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral chapel after 5 p.m. Sunday.
