Vernelia "Nellie" Phillips, 86, of Pikeville, died Monday, May 21, 2012, at Pikeville Medical Center.

She was born September 6, 1925, at Millard, the daughter of the late Riley Coleman and Carrie Adkins Coleman.

She was a retired secretary from R.H. Hobbs and BB&T and was a member of Faith First Baptist Church.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Phillips, who died January 15, 2001, one brother, Dennis Coleman, and three sisters, Jeleanor Stewart, Hula Looney and Mary Smith.

She is survived by three brothers, Riley Coleman (Lois) of Hamilton, OH., Lomar Coleman (Zelda) of Hannibal, MO., Gary Coleman (Linda) of Camden, Tenn., and three sisters, Lois Bogar (Roy) of Pikeville, and Martha Wood (Linvel) and Wanda Mays (Scottie), both of Louisville.

Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, May 23, 2012, in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel, with Charles Justice and Sam Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, East Shelbiana.
