NUTTER FORT — Helen Louise (Freeman) Jones, 86, of Clarksburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior at her home, surrounded by her family, on May 9, 2012, following an extended illness.
She was born in Harrison County, on April 29,1926, the daughter of the late Thomas Albert and Ivy Myrtle Freeman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Edward Blaine Jones, on December 16, 2003.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Thompson, Betty Allman, Hannah Chamberlain and an infant sister, Virginia; four brothers, Ralph, Charles, John and Junior Freeman and an infant granddaughter, Ashley Dawn Elder.
She is survived by a daughter, Donna Kay Elder, with whom she made her home and two sons, Carl (Gene) Freeman and wife, Connie and William (Frankie) Jones and wife, LaWanda. Also surviving is her former son-in-law and dear friend, John M. Elder. Mrs. Jones is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; as well as by a sister, Mildred Trezise; a brother, Leland (Pete) Freeman and wife, Linda and several nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Jane Lew High School in 1947. She worked for Hazel Atlas, Continental Can, Brockway and retired from Anchor Hocking with 30 years of service.
Mrs. Jones was a Christian by faith and attended West Milford United Evangelistic Union Mission Church, where she sang in the choir. She also enjoyed going to church, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
The family would like to thank the nurses on 6 North at UHC, Dr. Mike Angotti and People's Hospice for the wonderful care their mother received during her illness and all the prayers, calls and visits from family and friends.
Family and friends will be received at Amos Carvelli Funeral Home, 201 Edison Street, Nutter Fort, on Sunday, May 13, 2012, from noon - 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 14, 2012, at 11 a.m., with Reverend Bill Lanham and Reverend Ashby Titus presiding.
Interment will follow in the Greenlawn Masonic Cemetery.
