Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 7, at 2 p.m. at the Hesper Lutheran church for Melvin Aasum, 78, who died suddenly at his home Friday, April 4. Pastor Marilyn Hanson officiated. Burial was in Hesper Lutheran cemetery.
He was born Oct. 29, 1907, near Mabel, the son of Ove and Mary (Benson) Aasum. He was baptized at the Hesper Lutheran church of which he was a life-long member.
He attended Mabel school.
He was an army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Joseph B. Lund American Legion Post 299.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
