James Aasum Funeral services were conducted on Monday, Oct. 20 at 2 PM. at the Hesper Lutheran church for James Aasum, 81, who died Thurs., Oct. 16, at Tweeten Memorial hospital in Spring Grove. The Rev. Bernhardt Polesky officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He was born Dec. 26, 1893, near Mabel, the son of Ove and Mary (Benson) Aasum. On Dec. 29, 1915, he married Esther Nelson. He had retired after farming in the Mabel and Hesper areas. For the past several years he had been a resident at Green Lea Manor nursing home in Mabel. He was a member of the Hesper Lutheran church.

Survivors are one son, Odell, Mabel; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Vivian) Housker, and Mrs. Paul (Darlene) Baker, Mabel; two grandchildren, four brothers, Grant, Judene, Melvin and Bennie, all of Mabel; three sisters, Mrs. Gilman (Minnie) Myrah, Mrs. Harry (Stella) Lommen, and Mrs. Kenneth (Blanche) Storlie, all of Spring Grove. His wife and one daughter preceded him death. The Mengis funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
